Position Summary

The Master Data Specialist maintains and improves Pacific Drilling’s Procurement and Supply Chain master data in the SAP MM (Vendor Master), WM (Material Master) and PM (Equipment, Technical Objects, Functional Locations) modules. S/he is responsible for creating and updating the Vendor Master, identifying best practices for ongoing management of the Vendor Master and developing standard reports and work instructions. The Master Data Specialist manages the Material Master in SAP which includes the quality of the catalog as well as the material creation and change process.

This position supports the Maintenance System team in creation and cleanup of Planned Maintenance master data and helps resolve open ticket items.

Position Scope

This position will provide support to all geographic locations of the Company for the creation and maintenance of trade Vendor Master and Material Master records in SAP. S/he works closely with the Houston based Maintenance Systems, Technical Support, and Operations Excellence teams.

Expected activities would include creating and managing data into the Company’s SAP VM, WM and PM systems, requesting additional data from vendors and internal requestors, and managing internal interactions with key parties (accounting, procurement, legal, risk, operations, etc.).

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2+ years of master data experience (required)
  • Experience in SAP Material Management, Warehouse Management and Planned Maintenance Modules
  • Experience managing Vendor Master, Material Master, Equipment, Technical Objects, Functional Locations
  • Competence in all MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment that requires high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, management of deadlines and ability to multitask

   Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide vendor master support to the PSC department (includes the creation of new Vendor Master records and maintenance of previously established records in SAP) with correct information to allow effective payments.
  • Liaise with vendors to gather updated information regarding vendor master, insurance, and contract status.
  • Continually improve work instructions and best practices for the set up and maintenance of the Vendor Master.
  • Maintain vendor W-9 certificates in conjunction with Company Tax Manager.
  • Serve as eCustoms point of contact for Company (along with Company Director of Compliance) in regards to the Virtual Compliance Restricted Party Screening of vendors.
  • Manage Pacific Drilling’s Material Master and responsible for creating material master numbers in SAP.
  • Advocate for material management processes supported by global standard SAP solutions.
  • Develop materials reports to support operational decision making.
  • Create, edit and maintain SAP PM Master Data including Functional Locations, Equipment, Task Lists, Standard Texts, Components and Bills of Materials.
  • Be an internal subject matter expert on SAP MM, WM and PM and continue to build foundational knowledge of the software and optimal master data processes.
  • Create, edit, and maintain standard documents for current and future master data applications.
  • Assist in creating procedures, standards and work instructions related to master data, workflows and systems.
  • Proactively follow up on and resolve day-to-day master data inquiries.
